FANSTEEL 291 METAL is a columbium-base alloy that can be readily fabricated, machined and welded. It is used in the high-temperature range 2800-3500 F where excellent strength-to-weight ratio can be used to advantage. It is also used in the lower temperature range 2000-2700 F because of its availability and fabricability which may be of more importance than high strength alone. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and creep.
