COLMONOY No. 4 is a nickel-base alloy containing chromium boride. It is recommended for hard surfacing parts to resist wear, heat, corrosion and galling. Deposits, which have only moderate hardness (Rockwell C 35-40), can be machined with carbide tooling. Also, deposits have fairly good workability, ductility and impact strength. This alloy is supplied as crushed powder for application with Wall Colmonoy's SPRAYWELD Process. Also, it is supplied as castings and as bare or coated rod for either oxyacetylene of DC electic-arc (reverse polarity) application. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and compressive strength as well as fracture toughness.
