AISI 8627 is an alloy steel of moderate-to-good hardenability for carburizing and other applications. When carburized, its core has good strength and toughness, and it is recommended for heavy-duty applications such as gears, shafts, cams, and machinery parts. Also, it can be used in the hot-rolled, normalized or water-quenched-and-tempered condition without carburizing.
