Abstract
CARPENTER PROJECT 70 STAINLESS TYPE 416 is an improved modification of Carpenter Stainless No. 5, the first free-machining stainless steel ever made. This grade has significantly better machinability than the conventional AISI Type 416. Carpenter Project 70 Stainless Type 416 is suited particularly for automatic screw-machine operations where the longer tool life results in more productive machine time. Among its many uses are fittings, gears, shafts and valve stems. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness.
