CARPENTER NICKEL-COPPER ALLOY 400 combines high strength (comparable to structural steel) and toughness over a wide temperature range. It can be strengthened by cold working. It has excellent resistance to many corrosive environments. This alloy has excellent mechanical properties at sub-zero temperatures; also, it can be used at temperatures to 800 F(427 C) and as high as 1000 F(538 C) in sulfur-free oxidizing atmospheres. Alloy 400 is used widely in many fields, particularly marine and chemical processing. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties.
