ALCOA Alloy 2090 is an aluminum-lithium alloy with 8% lower density and 12% higher elastic modulus than 7075-T6, a major high-strength alloy used in aircarft structures. Special facilities and practices required for casting commercial size aluminum-lithium ingots have been developed to cope with the highly reactive nature of lithium in molten aluminum. In general, the alloy should be considered for use in light-weight structures requiring high strength and stiffness. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties.
