AISI 1526 is a carbon steel containing relatively high manganese (1.10 to 1.40%) and low-to-medium carbon. It combines good machinability, good workability and good weldability. It may be used in hot-rolled, annealed, normalized or liquid quenched-and-tempered condition for a wide range of applications. Also, it may be case hardened by carburizing. Its high manganese content provides increased hardenability which is reflected in all uses and gives increased strength in the core of carburized parts and in uncarburized applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness.
