HS 50 alloy was developed to provide an increase of approximately 0.1 T (1000 G) in saturation magnetization compared with standard Permendur 49. The heat treatment of HS 50 can be carried out at a higher temperature, which gives increased permeability and lower coercive force. The mechanical properties are superior to those of Rotelloy 3. For applications where low loss is required, a thinner gage strip can be used to compensate for the lower resistivity compared with Rotelloy 3.
