The high chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen contents of alloy Uranus B46 (also known as UR B46) result in a pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) of >45 and explain why the grade is very resistant to localized corrosion even in acidified oxidizing environments. The alloy has been used for offshore applications.
