TLS D2 is the most wear resistant of the commonly available grades of tool steel. It is deep hardening and has very low size change during heat treatment. However, because of its excellent wear resistance, it produces a low machinability rating. It is chosen when long tool life is required. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on wear resistance as well as heat treating and machining.
